PORTLAND – Arthur George Rand, 76, of Norway, died Friday, June 9, at Maine Medical Center.

He was born in Bridgton on Jan. 29, 1930, the son of Berl and Avis Merrill Rand.

He served in the U.S. Navy.

Arthur married Jean Evelyn Smith on Jan. 13, 1953.

He worked at General Electric in Cincinnati, Ohio, Ford Garage, MacDonald Motors in Bridgton, and owned and operated Rand’s Garage in Fryeburg.

He is survived by two daughters, April and her husband, Kenneth Briggs, of Norway, and Dolly Rand and her longtime companion, Robert Connolly, of North Las Vegas, Nev.; a son, Dana Rand and his longtime companion, Stephanie Abbott, of Lovell; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; two sisters, Lillian Rich of Lady Lake, Fla., and Linda Knight of Bolsters Mills; and a brother, John Rand of Harrison.
