LEWISTON – A rider was injured after being thrown from a bull Saturday evening during a professional bull riding show at the Colisee.
The rider, 33-year-old Eddie Winfield of Middletown, Md., was listed in stable condition at Central Maine Medical Center Sunday night, according to a nursing supervisor. No further details about Winfield’s injury were available Sunday night.
Winfield was traveling with the Professional Bull Riders’ Discovery Tour, which performed in Lewiston Friday and Saturday nights.
The invitational at the Colisee has been anything but conventional for Professional Bull Riders, a Colorado-based organization devoted to advancing the sport of bull riding.
Winfield’s injury is the second irregular incident to occur at the invitational; the first was the escape of Dirty Rider, a 2,000-pound bull that bolted free as handlers were moving him into a trailer late Saturday night.
According to the PBR Web site, Winfield has been a professional bull rider for eight years.
