RUMFORD – A story that appeared on page B4 of the River Valley edition of the Sun Journal on Friday, June 9, contained incorrect information. It should have said that Patrolman Douglas Maifeld was joking about being too old to run in the Law Enforcement Special Olympics torch run. He also said he didn’t collapse into the open rear of a sport-utility police cruiser, but rather it sped up just as he jumped in, making it seem like he collapsed. He also finished the run, handing the torch off to a Dixfield officer.
