Open house
DIXFIELD – Mystic Valley Grange 313 in East Dixfield will hold an open house on Friday, June 16, to give a community service award to the East Dixfield Fire Department. A potluck supper will be held at 6:30 p.m. followed by a meeting and program at 7:30. The public is welcome.
Retired teachers
FARMINGTON – The Franklin County Unit of Retired Teachers will meet at 11 a.m. Monday, June 19, at Trinity United Methodist Church. Karen Baldacci will discuss her role as First Lady of Maine. For lunch reservations, call Carolyn Parr at 778-4282.
Church concert
NEW VINEYARD – The Campbells will perform in concert at 7 p.m. Saturday, June 17, at Mountain View Bible Church, 26 Church St.
The Campbells are a full-time gospel music ministry from Maine. Their music legacy spans more than 30 years. They travel throughout the United States and Canada and have released numerous recordings.

Garden workshops
WILTON – The University of Maine Cooperative Extension will provide a series of workshops on gardening, taught by Dave Fuller. The workshops will be held from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at Western Maine Community Action Career Center starting on Monday, June 19, when his topic will be “How to Get More Out of Your Garden.”
Other workshops include July 10, “Managing Pest Problems without Spraying”; Aug. 7, “Composting”; September (date to be determined), “Canning”; and Oct. 2, “Planting Garlic.”
Participants will learn how things work in their garden and how to achieve better results and will be given time to ask questions. There is a $5 fee for the series. Call the Extension Office to register at 778-4650 or 1-800-287-1478.
Annual meeting
WILTON – Residents are invited to attend the annual meeting of the Wilton Free Public Library Association at 7 p.m. Tuesday, June 27, at the library.
Free luncheon
FARMINGTON – Old South First Congregational Church will serve its monthly free community luncheon from noon to 1 p.m. Saturday, June 17. There will be a cookout, including hamburgers, hot dogs, Italian sausage with peppers and onions, coleslaw and ice cream.
Delivery service will be available in the Farmington area. Call the church office, 778-0424, during the week or the church kitchen, 778-4438, on the morning of the luncheon if a meal needs to be delivered. It will be the last luncheon before summer recess.
Class reunion
FARMINGTON – The Mt. Blue High School Class of 1971 will have its 35th class reunion on Saturday, Aug. 12, at the Front Street Tavern. An owner of the Front Street Tavern, Charlie Williams, is also a member of the class of 1971.
The Reunion Committee is contacting all members of the large class and they are asking for help in getting the word out to all members.
