RUMFORD – Gisele T. Gurney, 75, of Rumford died Saturday, June 10, at her residence.
She was born on Dec. 17, 1931, the daughter of Thomas and Marie Rose Thibodeau Theriault, in Rumford, where she resided all of her life.
She was a graduate of Stephens High School, class of 1950.
On July 4, 1955, she married Allen R. Gurney in Rumford.
She retired as administrative secretary from Boise Cascade with 39 years of service, and was a member of the 25-Year Club of Retired Boise Cascade employees.
She was a member of St. Athanasius and St. John Catholic Church.
She was a devoted wife and mother who enjoyed the simpler things in life, such as being out of doors, taking walks, volunteering and her summer cottage. It was important to her to help others.
She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Allen R. Gurney; two sons, Wayne Gurney of Rumford and Dayl Gurney and wife, Vikki, of Lewiston; a daughter, Kathleen Higgins and husband, Stephen, of Windham; two brothers, Norman Theriault and wife, Irene, of Rumford and Russell Theriault of Rumford; six sisters, Lucille Madley of Wallingford, Conn., Laurette Lavoie, Collette Wagner, Marcelle Miller and husband, Roger, all of Rumford, Venice Sexton and husband, Richard, of Yarmouthport, Mass. and Ruth Lynch and husband, Tobey, of Franklinton, La.; four grandchildren, Chad Gurney of Portland, Demarie Gurney of Raeford, NC., Justine Higgins and Brian Higgins, both of Windham.
She was predeceased by her parents; two sisters, Viola Gurney and Irene Kinch, both in 1990; and a brother, Real Joseph Theriault in 1998.
