BROOKSVILLE – Phil Farr, manager of Holbrook Island Sanctuary State Park, has announced that Andrea J. Stowell, daughter of Brenda Sessions and Al Stowell, of South Paris, has been appointed as a summer intern at the park.

Stowell is studying recreation and leisure services at the University of Maine at Presque Isle and will graduate with a bachelor of science degree in May 2007.

She was one of two applicants chosen from a potential field of 55 applicants from Sterling College of Vermont, Unity College, UMPI and the University of Maine in Orono.

Stowell will be doing maintenance work, studying the natural resources of the park, leading public interpretation walks and slide shows. She will be specializing in outreach educational programs for children, which the park sponsors.

Applicants are given an interview and are chosen on field of study, work background, attitude and ability to work with groups and the visiting public.
