BUCKFIELD – Rita A. Tilton, 54, of Buckfield died at her residence June 11.

She was born in Lewiston on Feb. 14, 1952, the daughter of Alton and Gleyn (Kilbreth) Bisbee. She graduated from Leavitt High School in 1970, and from Auburn Maine School of Commerce in 1971.

She had worked for Kerr Electric for many years and was co-owner of Tilton’s Market in Buckfield for the last 25 years.

She loved gardening, birds, music, minstrel shows, walks, singing, caring for her granddaughter, trips with her sisters, horse riding experiences and was a sports mom.

She is survived by her husband of 34 years, Gilbert Virgil Tilton of Buckfield; two sons, Steven and his wife, Michelle, of North Monmouth and Everett W. Tilton of Buckfield; one daughter, Angela G. Tilton and her companion, Amy Oliver, of Portland; three sisters, Thelma Waite of Leeds, Myrtle Jack of Lisbon and Lois Lefebvre and her husband, Reynald, of Leeds; one granddaughter, Rebekah G. Tilton of North Monmouth; as well as many nieces and nephews. A special mention to her niece, Raedelle Knight, who was to be her caregiver at this difficult time. She will also be missed by her loyal dog, Kizzi and Sandee, her cat.
