On Sunday, June 4, I had the pleasure of attending a performance of the Androscoggin Chorale at the Franco-American Heritage Center in Lewiston, presented by the Maine Music Society. The concert was well-attended. It was apparent that both the audience and the performers thoroughly enjoyed the performance.
I was pleased to read a positive review of the concert two days later in the Portland Press Herald. This review served to reflect the performance back to the performers and audience and out to the community as a whole. Equally important, the review drew attention to the vibrancy of the performing arts in Lewiston-Auburn.
We have all heard talk about the creative economy and its contribution to our economic well-being. All reviews celebrate music and validate the contribution a performance makes to the life of a community.
This event took place in Lewiston, was presented by a Lewiston-based arts organization, and was performed by members of the Lewiston/Auburn community. In the future, I hope to read reviews of Maine Music Society events, and other musical performances taking place in our community, in the Sun Journal, my hometown paper.
Thanks and congratulations to the Maine Music Society and members of the Androscoggin Chorale for a job well done.
Deb Davis, Turner
