KEENE, N.H. – Marie Joanne O. “Dusty” Roberts, formerly of Howe Street, Lewiston, died June 10, at Harborside Westwood Nursing Home.
She was born in Lewiston, May 26, 1939, the daughter of Albert and Ida Croteau Lamontagne.
Dusty lived most of her life in Maine and after her school years, she worked in various manufacturing plants in the Lewiston/Auburn area. She worked as a bartender for a few years. She was involved with and had her own country/rock band, which she completely enjoyed and loved in the 1970s and the 1980s. She was involved for many years in the “Snowshoe” clubs, as a drum majorette. She loved her music and one of her favorite songs was “House of the Rising Sun.”
Although her illness was rather fast, during her last few months on this earth she was content and comfortable. She was always ready to smile and her quick wit was evident right up to the end. She was especially happy when visited by her children and her grandchildren and although in pain she kept it inside as much as possible.
Her favorite psalm was the 23rd Psalm and she was not afraid of the Valley of Death and she knew that her house of the Rising Sun in the eternal heaven would be her home and that she would be able to be with those she loved that had gone on before her.
Her smiles, her humor, her quick wit and sharp tongue will be with us forever and will never fail to brighten our days and bring a smile to our faces.
She is survived by two sisters, Georgette V. Gilbert of Lewiston and Antonia T. Crowell of Auburn; five children, E.D. “DeeDee” Cavanaugh of Keene, N.H., Nancy A. Crowell of Lewiston, Diane K. Emond of Litchfield, Danny R. Emond of Kenneth City, Fla. and Michael S. Simmons of Manchester, Conn.; seven grandchildren, Crystal M. Emond (Dyer), Angelina R. Cavanaugh (Aceto), Michelle M. Cavanaugh, Christopher M. Cavanaugh, Shayne R. Cavanaugh, Clifford Craig Scott and Jayson M. Simmons; three great-grandchildren, Chiara R. Aceto, Andrew R. Dyer and Austin J. Dyer.
