I read with great interest the District 80 Republican primary candidates profile (June 11). While not a resident of District 80, I have know candidate Greenwood for many years and was dismayed to read both candidates’ “primary objective is to get a Republican elected in November.”

Say what you mean, mean what you say. It is the voters they represent.

Both candidates should be ashamed their “primary objective” is to elect a political party and not serve the voters of District 80. Party politics have the American public outraged our government is not representing them.

The Republicans’ majority on the national level has hurt this country. We face huge problems that are not being addressed because of partisan politics.

And please, if you’re a Democrat, don’t rejoice too much as you are the majority party in this state. Not much to brag about there, either.

A small business owner myself, health care is a big issue. DirigoHealth needs an independent review to recommend changes to make it work. It would be a huge success if all parties in Augusta would endorse the plan based on independent recommendations. Enrollment would skyrocket with a unified effort to make it work, not a partisan attempt to kill it or keep it dysfunctional.

Our state needs leaders to unify on the issues important to Maine, not toe party lines.

It’s time for all politicians to come back to the center and unify for the voters of Maine.

The “Levelheads” are watching.
