OXFORD – The town is looking at a $162,662 budget increase if voters accept Budget Committee recommendations. It’ll be more if they follow selectmen at Saturday’s annual town meeting.

The session begins at 10 a.m. at the Oxford Elementary School.

The $5,000 difference between the two recommendations comes with the Budget Committee urging $10,419 for social services agencies and selectmen suggesting $15,419.

Town Manager Michael Chammings said the Budget Committee held the line on the budget this year even with the rising costs of fuel and electricity. He said the committee kept the line within the inflation rate.

The town will be looking to set aside some money for future revaluations of property, which the state requires every 10 years. This will be reflected in the capital improvements line for $100,000.

Municipal officers to be nominated and elected from the floor are two selectmen and assessors for a term of three years, a SAD 17 board member, a trustee to the water district and a fire chief, all for three years.
