AUBURN – H. Merl “Sugar” Gordon Jr., 82, of North Norway passed away June 15, at the Hospice House.

He was born in Bethel on Sept. 16, 1923, the son of Harry M. and Dorothy Clough Gordon. He married Laurette Pratt on Sept. 21, 1942. They were married 53 years before her passing in 1995. He was a proud World War II veteran and a member of the V.F.W. in South Paris.

He worked at A.C. Lawrence Leather Co. until he retired in 1985. He enjoyed the outdoors and being with his family and friends. He also loved his faithful companion, his dog “Buddy.”

He is survived by his daughter, Cathy Rubino of North Norway; his son, Duane Gordon and his companion, Diana Carro, of Hartford; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren with three more due this summer and fall; a brother, Sidney and his wife, Roberta, of North Norway; and a sister, Edith Stevens and her husband, Howard, of Canton.

He was predeceased by his parents; five brothers; and two sisters.
