LEWISTON – Oh Danny boy, the pipes the pipes are calling Josie Nadeau, 77, passed away peacefully at home on June 15.

She was born Feb. 23, 1929, in Newcastle West, Ireland, the daughter of John Cullinan and Jane Cullinan (Reynolds). She met her future husband, Marcel Nadeau who was in the Air Force stationed in Germany, while she was working in London, England. They were married in London, England at Corpus Christie Church in 1954. She worked at Northeast Bank/Fleet Bank for 15 years, and had made precious friendships from her time spent there.

She was a very special person who truly lived her faith, and always put others before herself. She never let her illness define who she was, but rather looked at it as more of an inconvenience that she managed and made a part of her life as opposed to letting it be her life. She had tremendous support throughout her illness from both friends and family.

She is survived by her loving and devoted husband, Marcel Nadeau, originally of Auburn; her brother, Joseph Cullinan and his wife, Sam who reside in upstate New York; her sister, Eileen (Eily) Cullinan of Maine and Ireland; her son, Gregory of Auburn; daughter, Karin and son-in-law, Ray, of Tampa, Fla.; her four cherished grandchildren, Ericka, Austin, Dylan, and Raymond; and many beloved sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

She was predeceased by her sisters, Ita Gullo and May Cullinan; and her brothers, Patrick, Willie and Sean Cullinan.

Her last wishes were to thank everyone, including her friends and family, her relatives in Ireland, England and Wales, and her lifelong friends in Newcastle West. She also wanted to thank her new friends she met at the hospital, as well as her church, and of course, all her wonderful neighbors. She wanted a very special thanks to Dr. Modarressi and all the staff at St. Mary’s Hospital, as well as those individuals from Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice.
