WILTON – Police arrested an 81-year-old man Friday on a charge of having sexual contact with a child under 14, police Chief Wayne Gallant said.
Earl Quirrion of Wilton was arrested about 10:50 a.m., Gallant said. As of late Friday night, he was being held at the Franklin County Jail. No bail had been set. Gallant added, Quirrion will be barred from having contact with the victim and any other children under the age of 16, without supervision.
The crime took place sometime in the past year, Gallant said, and “finally got disclosed.”
Quirrion is charged with Class B felony unlawful sexual contact.
“This is a serious crime,” Gallant added. “The fact that an 81-year-old male has had some kind of sexual contact with a child under the age of 14 is certainly unacceptable in society.”
Late Friday, Quirrion remained in Franklin County Jail, no bail had been set.
