I wholeheartedly agree with Melissa Noel regarding her letter printed June 13.

Any group of people, regardless of nationality, who choose to live in this great country should expect to assimilate themselves into this culture, not the other way around.

Apparently Cynthia Williams (June 16) was insulted by Noel’s letter. Yes, this is America. Yes, anyone has a right to protest and complain. But it seems to me that it’s always one particular group of people in L-A that does all the complaining. There are a large number of immigrants is this area – Asian, Hispanic, several other African nations, etc., and I don’t recall any of them marching in the street every time something happens that they don’t particularly care for.

I don’t feel that Ms. Noel was being at all racist.

As for “Try a little tenderness,” this group of people has been treated with more kindness, compassion and “tenderness” than any group of immigrants since this country was founded, so please, give me a break.
