AUBURN – Ann J. Allen, of 194 Pride Road, passed peacefully at the Hospice House in Auburn surrounded by family on June 17, two days shy of her 92nd birthday.

She was born June 19, 1914, the daughter of Antonis and Josephine (Bracatz) Baltrusajtzs (Baltrus). Ann graduated from ELHS in 1932. She also graduated from the Madame Jeanette Beauty Salon, Lewiston, in 1936.

Ann worked as a licensed beautician in Boston. On returning to Maine, she met the love of her life, Jimmy Allen. On June 1, 1940, she married James H. Allen at Sacred Heart Church. Eventually, she opened her own salon in her home.

While in Boston, Ann sang and played the violin on the radio for two years. At the time, she also went on a concert tour of the Northeast with Mr. Kubiliunas, a tenor, and Helen Zukas, an accompanist.

Ann belonged to the following organizations: Philharmonic Club, Lithuanian Social Club, Andy Valley Snow Gypsies, Woman’s Literary Union, Auburn Senior Citizens, Tiesa (Association of Lithuanian Workers) and AARP and volunteered at Clover Manor Nursing Home.

Ann is survived by her five children; Jean and her husband, Richard Sullivan, of Oaks, Pa., Beverly and husband, Raymond Fortier, of Auburn, Kathleen and husband, Charles MacDonald, of Auburn, twin sons, James Allen and Timothy Allen, both of Auburn; her seven grandchildren, Richard and Joline Fortier, Shawn and Kristina Sullivan, Cheryl and husband, Ron Fraser, Louis Allain and Sarah MacDonald; three great-grandchildren, Robin, John and Joseph Allain; four sisters-in-law; relatives in Lithuania; her friends at Monelo Manor; and her beloved cat, Sneezy.

She was predeceased by her parents; and her loving husband of 60 years.
