This one was just too good to let go unnoticed. The city of Auburn has renovated the public library. It is absolutely beautiful. The citizens of Auburn and Lewiston should be very pleased, because the libraries are a joint venture.
And what a beautiful venture it could be, except that some disabled people are not able to access the Auburn Library without assistance. Those who need to use mobility devices are unable to open the doors.
Does anyone remember that Auburn is the same municipality that held a meeting about handicapped accessibility to the public schools in a public school that was not accessible to the handicapped?
Does anyone learn anything from past errors?
By the way, the Americans With Disabilities Act certainly is not new.
