LEWISTON – Shirley A. Strout, 61, of Canton, went home to be with the Lord and her parents, Saturday evening, June 17, at the Central Maine Medical Center, with her loving family by her side. She was a stroke survivor who fought a short battle with cancer.
She was born Feb. 15, 1945, the daughter of Victor H. and Mary Ellen (Guthro) Andersen. She attended Yarmouth schools and graduated from North Yarmouth Academy.
On Sept. 22, 1962, she married David W. Strout at the Sacred Heart church in Yarmouth and shared 43 years of love and happiness.
Shirley worked in the lunch department in Dixfield and Canton for SAD 21 for 25 years, until her stroke in 1998.
She was a member of the Canton Mother’s Club and the Canton Hi-Riders snowmobile club.
She enjoyed knitting, various crafts, flower gardening and snowmobiling and was an avid reader.
She is survived by her husband, David of Canton; two sons, Larry Strout and his wife, Donna, of Hartford and Warren Strout and his fiance, Rhonda Gallant, of Dixfield; and five grandchildren, Hannah, Susie and Samantha Strout of Canton and Elizabeth and Benjamin Strout of Hartford.
She was predeceased by her parents.
STROUT – Shirley A., 61, of Canton, died June 17 in Lewiston. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 20, at the Wiles Remembrance Center, 42 Weld St., Dixfield, with the Rev.
