LEWISTON – Georgette R. Caron, 89, of 8 Perley St., died early Monday, June 19, at d’Youville Pavilion with family at her side.
She was born in Montreal, Canada, Nov. 17, 1916, the only child of Alfred and Clara (Tetreault) Roberge. Having moved here at a very young age, she was educated in Lewiston schools and remained a lifelong resident of this community.
On Sept. 30, 1939, she married Leandrus G. Caron and he passed away on Jan. 6, 1976. She first worked for a time at the Pepperell Mill and then worked many years as a cook in the cafeterias at St. Mary’s Hospital and then the Marcotte Home until her retirement.
She was a member of Holy Family Church and the Ladies of St. Anne Sodality. She volunteered her time for many years at St. Vincent dePaul and among her favorite enjoyments were spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, reading, doing crossword puzzles, and hooking rugs. She was also a very avid Red Sox fan.
She leaves five daughters, Carmen White of Lisbon, Claire Jalbert and husband, Marc, of Lewiston, Carol Genthner and husband, Richard, of Bremen, Suzanne Morin and husband, Victor of Poland and Rachel Caron of Lewiston; six grandchildren David White, Deborah White and fiance, Wendell Strout, Jennifer Carney and husband, Dean, Jessica St. Cyr and husband, John, Dr. Melissa Morin and Matthew Morin; six great-grandchildren, Benjamin Boulay and girlfriend, Jenna Ramos, Delanie-Rae Strout, Alexandra White, Victoria White, Kelsey St. Cyr and Megan St. Cyr; two stepgrandchildren, Steven Genthner and wife, Tracy and Heath Genthner and wife, Mary; three stepgreat-grandchildren, Kyle, Anthony and Dylan Genthner; three sisters-in-law, Jeannette Caron, Bertha Gravel and the former Therese Caron; several nieces and nephews; and five very good friends, Dr. Melissa Rosenberg, Jackie Angers, Lucille Gardner, Jennifer Franck and Vicky Hutchinson.
She was predeceased by her parents; and a son, Gerard Caron.
