RANGELEY – Rangeley’s Black Fly Festival on Sunday, June 25, will have free bug repellent for everyone at the Rangeley Lakes Trails Center. It will be a day of family activities, arts, crafts and food from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The evening comedy show by the Maine Hysterical Society will open at 7 p.m. at the Club House Restaurant. Tickets are available at the Rangeley Chamber of Commerce office or at the festival: $15 in advance and $18 at the door. Seating is limited.
“Over the River n’ through the Woods” is the theme for the 10:30 a.m. Treasure Hunt, with prizes for all who complete the course, as well as a mountain bike race, the Rangeley Rock Rash Ramble at noon, suitable for family participation with prizes for first, second and third and T-shirts for completion. All sporting events are $15 a person.
Proceeds will benefit the building fund for a permanent lodge for the Rangeley Lakes Trails Center. Follow the signs from Route 4, up the Dallas Hill Road to 524 Saddleback Mountain Road. Details are at www.rangeleyblack flyfest.com.
The center, operated and maintained by the Rangeley Lakes Cross Country Ski Club Inc, is an extensive network of trails on lower Saddleback Mountain dedicated to non-motorized, year-round, sport and recreational use for all who properly access its trails and facilities.
