Auburn – Lucille G. Janelle, 82, of Monmouth passed away on June 19, at the Androscoggin Hospice House with her loving family by her side after a long illness.
She was born on Oct. 26, 1923, a daughter of the late Alfred and Albertine (Laroche) Gervais. She was educated in local schools and later went on to further her education at the University of Maine in Gorham, where she received her teacher’s certificate in 1962.
She went on to teach the third-grade class at Holy Rosary in Sabattus, now known as Our Lady of the Rosary from 1958 to 1959, the 5th and 6th grade from 1962 to 1963, and the 3rd grade class from 1964 to 1966, during that time she also took additional classes at St. Joseph’s College.
She greatly enjoyed teaching; she also taught CCD at St. Leo’s Church in Littchfield. She was a member of St. Leo’s Church and loved going to and being part of all the church functions. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, playing card games, and had a great love for all children. She especially loved rainy days, her dog Bosco, and cat Meenou, loaded pizzas, maple walnut ice cream and Pepsi.
She married Adrien E. Janelle on July 5, 1940, at St. Mary’s Church in Lewiston.
She is survived by her many Janelle family nieces and nephews, and several Gervais family nieces and nephews; her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Reginald Janelle and wife, Joanne, Theresa Blouin and husband, Ron, Blanche Wilson, Germaine Doyon and Pricilla LaBonte. She was very close to her family and her many special friends.
She was predeceased by her husband in October 2000; her infant son, Joseph Janelle; her two sisters, Muriel and Rita; and a brother and sister-in-law, Gerard “Gerry” Gervais and wife, Rita.
A special thank-you and appreciation goes out to all of those whom came to visit “Aunt Lou” in the nursing home, to all of the caretakers at Seville, Schooner Estates for all the love and care shown to Lucille and her family. Special thanks to Doris and Jen.
