LEWISTON – The Lewiston Public Library computer lab will be open for senior citizens looking to develop basic computer skills on Wednesday afternoons beginning June 28. The lab sessions will run from 1 to 3 p.m. Wednesdays through Aug. 9 and will be staffed by local high school students.

The open lab sessions are for seniors (age 55 and older) who would like to acquire introductory computer literacy. The sessions are free and no preregistration is required.

Volunteer staffing is being provided by several local high school students working on their community service graduation requirements. Student tutors include: from Edward Little High School, John Bedette and Annie Helmkamp; St. Dominic Regional High School, Jeff Lewandowski, David Roux and Emily St. Pierre; and Cheverus High School, Meghan Snook and Ted Snook.

The new computer lab was recently completed as part of the library’s Marsden Hartley Cultural Center. The lab was outfitted with 14 new computers through a grant from the JTG Foundation.
