OXFORD – The Keiser Industries scholarship award was given recently. The fund was developed by the employees to be awarded in the memory of Richard A. Bean.

Two $1,500 scholarships were awarded this year by Bean’s sister, Jo-Ann Korhonen, and his daughter, Lyndsay Bean, along with Operations Manager Tim Farrar.

The recipients are Robert M. Ripley and Andrew Ward of Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School. Ripley will continue his education at the University of Maine at Farmington, focusing on elementary education with concentration in science. Ward will attend the University of Maine in Orono in the field of construction management.

Keiser Industries builds custom modular homes. Bean was general manager at the time of his unexpected death in 2002. Many of the employees donate to the fund weekly, with matching funds from the company. Some of the proceeds from the Rick Bean Memorial Golf Tournament are also contributed.
