This letter is in response to Cynthia Williams of Lisbon who wrote June 16 that we should get a handle on our fear that creates racism, and stop calling it anger.

It’s not fear or anger, but a feeling of disrespect to our country.

I think it’s pretty rude to take a stand against the police who “serve and protect.” If we rallied every time we felt there was an injustice, we would always be on the street with our picket signs.

I am sure things are much worse in other countries, and if immigrants feel mistreated, maybe they should go back.

When people come to our country, they should at least have the respect to speak our language and respect our authority.

Yes, in America, we have the right to protest, but most of us work every day, and we can’t find the time to picket for what we believe in.
