GREENE – Charles and Ruth Jucius of Greene recently celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary.
The couple was married on June 21, 1941, by her father, the Rev. Charles Watkins, in East Millinocket.
They have four children, Edward, who is deceased, Robert and spouse, Shirley, Charles Jr. and spouse, Elaine, and Penny and spouse, Paul. They also have eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
They lived for many years in Bar Harbor, where they operated a dry cleaning and laundry plant. In later years they lived in Turner and Mr. Jucius worked in construction. They were avid square dancers and campers. They formed the Pine Tree Gypsies chapter of the National Good Sam Club.
They are very active in the American Legion and the American Legion Auxiliary. Mr. Jucius is a member of the Bar Harbor Post 25 and his wife belongs to Unit 82 of Norway. She is a past state president and national vice president of the Eastern Division American Legion Auxiliary. For over 35 years she was assistant director of the American Legion Auxiliary’s Dirigo Girls State.
For a number of years in the winter, they resided in Rainbow Village in Zephyrhills, Fla., where they were involved in many park activities. They are now residing at the senior living center, the Meadows, in Greene. They take care of each other and the staff takes care of them both.
