Karl Rove says that Democrats want to cut and run again. Woodrow Wilson was a Democrat, and he was president when we declared war on Germany in World War I. Republicans wanted no part of that war. Franklin D. Roosevelt, a Democrat, was president when the U.S. declared war on Japan and Germany. Not only did the GOP not want to fight that war, they undermined the efforts of our elected officials to help our allies fight the war with the America First movement.

Harry Truman, another Democrat, got the U.S. involved in Korea with a United Nations mandate to keep half of Korea free from communism. Dwight Eisenhower, a Republican, was president when we “cut and ran” from that conflict. Eisenhower got the U.S. involved in Vietnam. Democrats escalated the war to defeat communism in Vietnam. Richard Nixon, a Republican, was elected in 1968 with a “secret plan” to end the war. Nixon’s plan? Cut and run in 1975. Democrats don’t cut and run. Republicans do, and have.

Karl Rove avoided any military service during Vietnam with a student deferment. That is interesting because Karl never graduated from any college. Republican leaders from 1990 on either never served in the military and/or avoided any part of the war in Vietnam. Democratic leaders (except Clinton) all served, and many saw combat in Vietnam. Yet the likes of Rove, George W. Bush and Dick Cheney are somehow the macho men of the hour.

Go figure.
