NEWRY – Nicholas “Nick” M.P. Babcock, 17, of 190 Rosedale St., Lewiston, died Thursday, June 22, in an airplane accident while on an ROTC summer camp field trip with two fellow cadets and their flight instructor.

Born in Lewiston on May 4, 1989, a son of Phillip D. and Christine A. Beaulieu Babcock, he was going to be a senior this year at Lewiston High School and had a tremendous passion for the LHS Air Force Junior ROTC program.

He enjoyed everything to do with ROTC – pick-up football, baseball, video games, computers and chess.

He loved talking, having a good time and telling jokes.

Nick will be remembered by all of his ROTC family, friends and girlfriend, Kate.

He is survived by his mom and dad, Phillip and Christine Babcock of Lewiston; a brother, Barry A. O. Babcock of Lewiston; his maternal grandmother, Claire Beaulieu of Lewiston; his aunts and uncles, Frank and Vivian Proulx of Hebron and their children Aaron, Michelle, Jake and Sarah Proulx, and Gene and Julie Lord of Clinton, Iowa.

He was predeceased by his maternal grandfather, Oscar Beaulieu; and his paternal grandparents, James and Maxine Babcock.
