Canton – Etta G. “Diddy” Cox, 67, of Livermore Falls, died early Saturday evening at Victorian Villa Nursing Home surrounded by her family and friends.
She as born Jan. 8, 1939, a daughter of Archie and Dorothy King. She will long be remembered for her wonderful Christmas displays and her love of singing at weddings. She was an avid yard saler and enjoyed backyard barbeques and was a member of the Red Hat Society.
She married James Cox on May 30, 1984. He died April 9.
She will be sadly missed by all whose lives she touched.
She is survived by six children, Barry King and Charles Burwell of Key West, Fla., Jeff and Debra Payeur of Canton, Terry and Patty Payeur of Florida, Darlene of Livermore, Jacqueline and Lee Fontenot of Jay, and Laurie Payeur of Jay; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two brothers, Archie King Jr. of Livermore Falls and Ernest King of Jay; three sisters, Maddy Goding of Livermore Falls, Mary Wilson of Peru and Annie Belanger of Jay; many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents; a brother, Palmer King; and sisters, Beverly Nichols, Dorothy Hunt and Baby Abby.
