JAY – The DARE graduation for the Jay Middle School fifth- and sixth-grades was held on May 25. After school the students had a pizza party and dance, which was followed by the graduation.

Parents were invited to the graduation and there was a strong turnout. Speakers included DARE Officer Roderick Small. Assistant District Attorney Andrew Robinson, Chief Larry White Sr. and Principal Scott Albert.

The Jay Citizens for Dare parent group assisted with the pizza party.

One hundred and forty students successfully completed the DARE program. As part of the program, they pledged to make healthy choices when it come to drugs, alcohol and tobacco.

One student from each class was selected as an essay winner: Emily Acritelli, Tyler Grover, Hannah Chaney, Tabitha Tibbetts, Lauren Hebert, Haleigh O’ Donnell, Stephanie Bonnevie and Robert Boulay.

The “Daren” stuffed animal award was presented to one exceptional DARE student. Billy Tourtelotte.
