BANGOR (AP) – A state legislator from Winterport faces a charge of operating under the influence following a minor accident in a Bangor parking lot.

Rep. Jeffrey Kaelin was ordered to appear in district court July 20 to face the charge stemming from Friday night’s accident at the Sea Dog Brewing Co.

Police said Kaelin’s blood-alcohol level exceeded the legal limit of 0.08 percent when he backed his pickup truck into another vehicle in the parking lot.

Kaelin, a Republican, is seeking re-election to the House in November.
