LEWISTON – The Junior Naturalist Program of the Stanton Bird Club has announced that Erin Malone, 12, of Lewiston, is the 2006 recipient of the Grace Poole Camp Scholarship.

The fund enables junior naturalists to continue their study in the field of natural history at a Maine camp with environmental themes. Malone will attend the Audubon Hog Island Camp in Bremen for a week in August to study marine science, geology, forest ecology, ornithology and pond studies.

Malone submitted the winning essay about an experience in nature in Maine this year.

Her detailed description of saving a young robin in a tree in her yard reflected her commitment to and curiosity about the natural world around her.
