BIDDEFORD – Priscilla Eustis Scammon, 82, of Ropewalk Drive, Hollis, died on Tuesday, June 27, at the Southern Maine Medical Center.
She was born in Mexico City, Mexico on March 22, 1924, a daughter of Albert and Gladys (Pennell) Eustis of Auburn.
She graduated from Dorp High School in Staten Island, N.Y. She spent 1 years at Rhode Island State College, a year at Bates College and graduated from Gorham State College, where she received a master’s degree in english and history.
She taught sixth-grade for a year in Gorham, a semester of remedial reading and math in Buxton and seventh-grade at what was then the SD Hanson Junior High School.
Afterwards, she worked for many years as a cardiology technician at the Maine Medical Center.
She enjoyed to read, knit, work on puzzle books, but most especially – she enjoyed to visit and be with her family.
She is survived by three sons, Jeffrey Scammon of Hollis, David Scammon and his wife, Dianne, of Bridgton and Mason O. Scammon and his wife, Gail, of Webster, N.H.; a brother, Penn Eustis of Rhode Island; a sister, Maribeth Parsons of Auburn; a daughter-in-law, Linda Scammon of Sandown, N.H.; 12 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Henry G. Scammon Jr.; a son, Henry M. Scammon; and a brother, Albert Mason Eustis Jr.
