Oxford – Richard W. Jackson, 87, of Oxford died Monday, June 26, at his home.

He was born in Oxford on Sept. 12, 1918, the son of Linwood and Clara Richardson Jackson. He attended schools in Oxford and faithfully served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II.

He was employed at Robinson Manufacturing, and later at Wilner Wood Products. He raced at Oxford Plains Speedway in the early days when it was a dirt track. He loved to tell jokes and had a great sense of humor. He enjoyed traveling and gardening. He will be greatly missed by all who loved him.

He is survived by his wife, the former Janice Cressey of Oxford; four sons, James Richard, Joseph W. and his wife, Sheila, Richard Jr. and his companion, Paulette and Michael and his wife, Penny; a brother, William; a sister, Louise Belanger; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his first wife, Betty in 1954.
