JAY – In 2006, the Jay-Livermore-Livermore Falls Chamber of Commerce established a scholarship fund to be awarded to a Jay School Department and SAD 36 student, who intend to go to college in Maine and to pursue a course of study in business or technical education.

This year, the recipient from Jay is Roxanne Swasey, who plans to study accounting at Northern Maine Community College.

The SAD 36 recipient is Shannon Tardif of Livermore, who will be attending Husson College and enrolled in the hospitality program.

The scholarship was established in hopes that a student who studies in Maine will return to the area to pursue their career.

The individual district’s scholarship committee makes the selection.

The scholarship is paid directly to the recipient upon their successful completion of their first semester and confirmation of second semester enrollment.
