RIDGE, N.Y. (AP) – Investigators seized a cache of illegal fireworks with an estimated value of $100,000 from a home and arrested a woman living there, police said Thursday.

Catherine Clary, 28, was arrested Wednesday on four counts of fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon and one count of unlawfully dealing with fireworks and dangerous fireworks, police said.

Suffolk County police Detective Sgt. George Kelly said, State law prohibits the sale or possession of fireworks without a permit.

Following a tip from investigators with the Nassau County district attorney’s office, detectives discovered an enclosed utility trailer and a cargo container filled with about 350 cases of fireworks at Clary’s home in Ridge, Kelly said. The bases of the trailer and the container measured about 8 feet by 20 feet, he said.

Contact information for Clary’s lawyer was not immediately available, authorities said.

Investigators also found illegal weapons including a pistol, a cane sword and an electronic stun gun at the home, police said.

The assorted fireworks were to be destroyed by authorities.
