LEWISTON – L/A Arts’ Music in the Parks summer concert series will kick off Wednesday, July 5, with a double booking: Cenedl, a band featuring five musicians all under age 20 from the Farmington area, and the well-known Dave Rowe Trio.

Music in the Parks concerts are all free and begin at noon. July concerts will be in Lewiston parks, August shows in Auburn. The July 5 concert will be in Fountain Park, behind FX Marcotte Furniture Store and outside the Bates Mill Complex at Chestnut and Lincoln streets. If it rains, the concert will be held in the Franco American Heritage Center, same date and time.

The Dave Rowe Trio performs traditional Celtic and Canadian Maritime favorites. The trio was created during the production of Rowe’s second CD, “Big Shoes,” following the loss of his father, mentor and fellow Turkey Hollow bandmate Tom Rowe of Schooner Fare fame. The trio is made up of Rowe on guitar, piano, tin whistle and lead vocals; Kevin O’Reilly on bass; and Edward Howe on fiddle and mandolin.

Cenedl plays everything from Celtic to bluegrass, traditional Polish music to rock. Twins Adam and Joshua Case play beside James Rossi, guitar and second fiddle; Issac Raymond, bass; and Lee Fellman, drums. Adam plays fiddle, and Joshua plays mandolin and guitar.

Thursday, July 6, the Cajun band Douce will bring its bayou sounds to Courthouse Plaza on Lisbon Street, Lewiston. In case of rain, this concert will be held Friday, July 7, same location and time.

Louisiana native Matthew Doucet formed Douce (French for “sweet”) in 2004. He plays fiddle and accordion with Robert Sylvain on dobro and vocals; Brad Strause, guitar; and Haakon Kallweit, upright bass. Douce performs a range of music from poignant waltzes to rousing stomps and two-steps.
