FARMINGTON – Ai Motora Dodge, 88, of East Wilton, died Wednesday, June 28, at Pinewood Terrace in Farmington.

She was born Dec. 16, 1918, in Nagasaki, Japan, the daughter of Shitaro and Kitami Motora. At the age of 10, she and her family moved to Tokyo. In addition to being educated in schools in Japan, she came to California and was educated in a Seventh Day Adventist School. She later returned to Japan where she studied to become a concert pianist.

She and her husband, the late Donald I. Dodge, were teachers. She taught music and gave piano and organ lessons for many years.

She and her husband organized several European trips for local high school students, and served as chaperones and tour guides.

Her interests included piano, art, music, decorating and gardening, and her artistic and musical talent was shared with many local theater groups.

She is survived by a brother, Seizo Motora of Tokyo, Japan; a cousin by marriage, Barbara Field of Fort Fairfield; nieces, nephews and longtime family friend, Mitsuko Livermore of Farmington.
