I am writing to praise the cadets from Lewiston High School JROTC. They went through a tremendous loss when the plane carrying three cadets went down on Barker Mountain.

In the days that followed they showed the respect, love and friendship for these three cadets with a private flag-raising ceremony on Friday. On Sunday night, they organized a candlelight walk in memory of these cadets not only thought of as friends, but also as family.

Each and every one of these cadets has showed such a sense of maturity far beyond their years. As parents of one of the kids who was attending camp, we want to praise the JROTC program and all it does for the kids and the community, and also praise the cadets for the way they represent themselves and the city of Lewiston.

They truly are the kind of people that this city can be proud of.
