DANBURY, N.H. (AP) – Two of the state’s resorts have big expansion plans.

The owners of Ragged Mountain, a ski and golf resort in Danbury, say they are considering adding more ski lifts, an indoor water park, a 200-room hotel and as many as 850 seasonal homes and condos.

The resort’s Mark Pins said the expansion, part of a 10-year plan owners Al and Walter Endriunas plan to submit to the town this summer, would change the resort from a day trip destination to a family getaway.

Pins said the resort would style new buildings to blend with New England architecture, rather than use the Alpine look adopted by many resorts.

Meanwhile, the new operator of the Bretton Woods resort and Mount Washington Hotel may spend as much as $21 million on improvements to the property during the next two years.

An $85 million deal to purchase the hotel, ski resort and golf course situated on more 1,800 acres was closed last Friday.

Plans for improvements include a spa and conference center adjacent and connected to the hotel, and a new nine-hole golf course along Route 302. There also are plans to develop a slopeside village at the ski area.

“Our vision is to be recognized, by third party-validation, as the quintessential New England experience,” said Patrick Corso, president of the Bretton Woods resort and 104-year-old Mount Washington Hotel.

He said that if profits meet expectations, another $19 million would be spent on additional improvements in several years.
