RUMFORD – An unnamed Rumford police officer was suspended Friday for two weeks without pay. The officer had been on paid administrative leave since June 12.

Friday’s announcement by Town Manager Steve Eldridge came after a meeting of the Board of Selectmen that included a 15-minute executive session to discuss the case.

No details were made public about the nature of the complaint made by a Rumford resident.

An investigation of the incident was conducted by a person outside of the department, Chief Stacy Carter said earlier this week. Eldridge then reviewed the investigator’s report before making his decision.

Eldridge said additional details on the case may be made public once the suspension has been served.
