AUGUSTA – Gail G. Martin, 52, of Fuller Street, and formerly of Trueworthy Avenue, Augusta, died Friday, June 30, at her home following a long and courageous battle with pulmonary hypertension, with her family by her side.
She was born in Augusta on Sept. 10, 1953, a daughter of Richard C. and Loretta (Turmel) Brann.
She was a 1971 graduate of Cony High School.
She had been employed by Key Bank, Peachey Builders and Bates Manufacturing Co., Edwards Division.
Ms. Martin was a communicant of St. Augustine Catholic Church and was very involved in the Pulmonary Hypertension Association.
Ms. Martin is survived by her parents, Richard C. and Loretta (Turmel) Brann of Augusta; her lifelong partner of 20 years, Lisa Shenett of Augusta; two daughters, Susan Zayac and her fianc, Steven Leet, of Augusta, and Michelle Condon and her husband, Ben, of Sidney; two brothers, Richard R. Brann and his wife, Hilda, of West Gardiner, and Robert D. Brann and his companion, Debbie, of Lewiston; two sisters, Linda M. Soule and her husband, Wayne, of Augusta, and Lorna J. Botts and her husband, Phill, of Augusta; four grandchildren, Joshua Zayac, Tyler Leet, and Brandon and Bradley Condon; an uncle, Ray Turmel; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and her dear dog, Mickey.
She was predeceased by her grandmother, Exilia Brann.
The family would like to extend their deep thanks to the staff of R-7 at Maine Medical Center in Portland, and the staff on A-1 at MaineGeneral Medical Center in Augusta. Special thanks to Dr. Kane and Dr. Wirth and hospice nurses Jackie, Debbie, Deb and Doughty for the special care they gave Gail.
