LEWISTON – Norbert J. Arnold, 88, of 26 Old Carriage Road, Auburn, died Saturday, July 1, at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center in Lewiston.

He was born in Canada on June 6, 1918, the son of Joseph and Laura McCarthy Arnold. He was a graduate of Dixfield High School and Bliss Business College of Lewiston.

He served with the U.S. Army in Europe during World War II.

After his discharge, he spent 25 years working in the consumer finance industry, with most of that time being spent in a supervisory capacity. Upon retirement from this career, he purchased the C & C Beauty and Barber Supply Co. of Lewiston.

Mr. Arnold was a member of Sacred Heart Parish, Auburn, the United Commercial Travelers, and was for many years a member of the Martindale Country Club. He was also a lifetime member of the Lewiston Lodge of Elks, and was its oldest and longest enrolled member until his death.

He is survived by his wife of many years, the former Yvette L. Gagnon of Auburn; two sons, Sherman of Lewiston, and David of Auburn; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
