GREENE – Virginia L. Hanson, 90, a former resident of College Road, Greene, died on Saturday, July 1, at The Meadows in Greene, where she had been a resident for the past three years.

She was born on Oct. 13, 1915, the daughter of Perley and Gladys (Washburn) Ripley. She attended Hartford schools.

On Jan. 6, 1936, Virginia married Stanwood C. Hanson in East Winthrop. He passed away in May 1966.

She was a housewife and mother. She worked for many years at Chick’s Orchard packing apples. Virginia enjoyed cooking, taking care of the elderly, working in her flower and vegetable gardens, and going to yard sales.

She enjoyed being a resident at The Meadows, and looked forward to her visits from her great-grandchildren, Peyton, Chanse and Alex.

She is survived by her son, Sterlin R. Hanson and his wife, Louise, of Lewiston; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by two sons, Sherwood and Stanwood Hanson; and her sister, Della Seeley.
