PORTSMOUTH, N.H. (AP) – One man is dead after an early morning fire Sunday that damaged a three-story apartment building.
Fire crews, who reached the scene around 2:30 a.m., were able to lead several people to safety but found one man dead in the first floor apartment, where the fire started.
Another man was rescued from the second floor using a ladder.
The victim has not been identified and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
The American Red Cross is helping other residents of the building find temporary housing while the building remains uninhabitable.
