BARTLETT, N.H. (AP) – A Goffstown woman was in satisfactory condition Sunday at the Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center after she fell 50 feet into a gorge.
Fish and Game Lt. James Goss said Amber Grise, 33, was mountain biking with a friend.
She had gotten off her bike and walked over to look at the waterfall at Pot Hole Falls when she slipped and fell.
The friend, Francine Lavalley, of Bow, biked out to Bear Notch Road to get help.
Goss said it took more than four hours to get Grise out of the woods.
She was taken by helicopter to Dartmouth Hitchcock with serious leg and hip injuries. Goss said Grise was wearing a bike helmet when she fell and that may have saved her life.
N.H. candidate search cost $18K
PORTSMOUTH, N.H. (AP) – New Hampshire state police and Dover police say the search for congressional candidate Gary Dodds in April cost them about $18,000.
Dodds vanished for about 27 hours after crashing his car along the Spaulding Turnpike.
He was found in the woods by a rescue dog the next day.
State police said the search cost them about $13,000 for the use of a helicopter and troopers who searched the ground.
Dover police said their costs ran about $5,000.
Dodds is under investigation after police say some of his story doesn’t add up. Dodds said he hit his head in the accident and was disoriented when he wandered off and got lost.
His lawyer said Dodds is standing by his account. He said the continued focus on the accident is politically motivated.
