JAY – Parade goers here saw a couple of surprise participants. Gov. John Baldacci and state Sen. Chandler Woodcock both walked the parade route.

Woodcock is challenging Baldacci for the Blaine House.

Jay and Livermore Falls united Monday to put on a spectacular show of unity and patriotism.

When asked what message his presence meant to the people, Baldacci said, “Look at the crowd from Jay, Livermore Falls, Livermore. We’re all here showing how proud we are to be Mainers and Americans.”

One spectator, Jocelyn Collins said, “It’s ironic that the governor is here today when (Livermore Falls) is shut down. It’s nice to see his and Senator Woodcock’s support for our towns.”

The parade committee was made up of volunteers from both towns and surrounding communities. Members of the committee were Andre Ouellette, Lynn Dunton, Erlon Rose, Bernard and Lorraine Gray, and Paula Coombs. The committee was assisted by Jay and Livermore Falls police departments.
