NORWAY – Ralph F. “Sarge” Sargent Sr., 69, of Sumner, died July 3, in Norway.

He was born in Boston, Mass., on Aug. 1, 1936, the son of Frederick H. and Phyllis (Bishop) Sargent. Sarge was an Army veteran of the Korean War as well as having served with the Coast Guard. He had worked as a bus driver and “tourist control officer.” He was a military history buff; loved to build military models and was an accomplished photographer and painter.

He was an avid reader, loved British mysteries and comedy, especially Monty Python. He was a nature lover from birth, loved to hunt and fish and in his younger days loved to swim.

He is survived by his wife, Gail (Morrison) Sargent of Sumner; two sons, Dean F. Sargent and his wife, Cherie, of Turner and Ralph Sargent Jr. of Massachusetts; four daughters, Heather Robinson and her husband, Lloyd, of Auburn, Cheryl, Gail and Kim, all of Massachusetts; two brothers, James R. Sargent of Auburn and Ken Sargent of Massachusetts; and 15 grandchildren including, Gabrielle Sargent, Nicole Sargent, Trevor Sargent and Anna Sargent, all of Turner and Charlie Robinson and Owen Robinson, both of Auburn.
