TURNER – SAD 52 Adult Education is offering academic summer classes in science, English, math, U.S. history, world studies and government for high school students who have taken, but did not pass, the class(es) during the 2005-06 academic school year. Upon successful completion of a class, students will receive high school credit.

General science students will study the constructs of the earth and universe. The class will be held from 8 a.m. to noon Monday through Friday, July 10 to 28, in the science wing at Leavitt Area High School.

U.S. history, world studies and government is a fast-paced intensive class with a focus on U.S. history. Students must be able to work well in a group. The class will be held from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday, July 10 to 19, at the Adult Learning Complex in Turner. There will be a mandatory field trip sometime during the class schedule that will result in one longer class day. Students taking government will only be required to attend the last four days of class and will receive one half credit.

A condensed fast paced English/language arts class will start from 1 to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday, July 10 to 21, at the Adult Learning Complex. The instructor will use texts, videos and computers to help students achieve success. Students need to supply pen/pencil, paper and a three-ring binder and must commit to attending each day.

Math class will start on July 17 and include general math, geometry, Algebra I and II. Students have the option to attend either the day or evening class. The day class will run from 8 a.m. to noon Monday through Friday, July 17 to Aug. 4. The evening class will run from 5 to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday, July 17 to Aug. 9. Both classes will be at the Adult Learning Complex.
