LACONIA, N.H. (AP) – A Massachusetts teen is charged with raping a girl in the water at a popular New Hampshire beach.

A 14-year-old girl reported she had been assaulted while swimming Monday afternoon at Endicott Beach, in the Weirs Beach section of Lake Winnipesaukee, police said. The girl told police she had only met her assailant a few hours earlier.

Police arrested Joverlyn Garcia, 18, of Methuen, Mass. He was due in court on Wednesday.
