MECHANIC FALLS – The 117th annual encampment of the Advent Christian Campmeeting Association will be held July 8 to 16 at the grounds beside Route 121. The public is welcome to attend the week of activities. This year’s theme is “Here We Meet God.”
The Rev. Ron Thomas, executive director of the Advent Christian General Conference in Charlotte, N.C., will use that theme in his series of messages nightly at 7 p.m. in the tabernacle. The Rev. John Roller, also of the Charlotte headquarters, will lead a study on the life of Elisha from 9:45 to 11:45 a.m. July 10 to 14.
Worship leader for the 7 p.m. services July 8 to 15 will be Tom Szostak of the Highland Cliff Advent Christian Church in Windham.
Besides the services and study, the campmeeting will feature Sunday worship at 10:30 a.m., a singspiration at 7 p.m. Friday, July 14, baptism service at 2 p.m. Sunday, July 16, missions service at 2 p.m. Thursday, July 13, and children’s Bible school from 9:30 to 11:45 a.m. Monday through Friday, July 10 to 14.
The association’s youth camps are:
• Mini-camp for 7- and 8-year-olds July 7 and 8 with director Jeff Mears of Portland.
• Teen camp for 14- to 18-year-olds, July 9 to 16 with directors Coleman and Tavia Williams of Oxford.
• Intermediate camp for 12- and 13-year-olds, July 16 to 21, with the Rev. David Patterson of Windham as director and Billy Markavich of Raymond as assistant director.
• Junior camp for 9- to 11-year-olds, July 23 to 28, with the Rev. David and Wilma Patterson as directors.
• Camp Macc for 13- to 18-year-olds, Aug. 7 to 13, with Rebecca Merriman of Portland as director.
The camp serves three meals a day in the dining hall, swimming in the Olympic size pool, a playground, sports facilities and other amenities. For more information, phone 345-9735 or 539-4753.
